Date: 09 May 2008 "We used the IML silent auction technology for the Cannon Ball in April 2008. The event was hugely successful raising significantly in excess of £250,000 for the Army Benevolent Fund and I have no doubt in my mind that a part of that success can be directly attributed to the IML system. We were initially nervous of ordering the system on the grounds of expense and the added complexity of 'another thing to go wrong on the night'. Both these fears proved to be misplaced. The auction consisted of some 30 lots and 500 individual potential bidders. The equipment is incredibly simple to use and once the equipment had been explained to the crowd, the auction began. This immediately engendered an element of fun into the proceedings, which rapidly evolved into competitiveness. This was where the system really generated value. Being able to monitor bidding against a lot you were interested in, without traipsing across a crowded room to find a paper based system, hugely encouraged bidders and competition. Throughout the evening, the friendly and efficient team from IML were on site to sort out any issues arising and provided a complete list of successful bidders at the end of the auction simplifying the task of cheque collection. I am certain that we got value from the IML system as we raised considerably more money from the auction by using this system than we might have expected. The system more than paid for itself."
